Thyrocare launches Cytogenetics Division
15th Feb 2015, Mumbai:
Thyrocare Technologies Limited (TTL), a leader in preventive healthcare diagnosis launched its new Cytogenetics Division on 15th February 2015. The new facility which is based out at Thyrocare's Central Processing Laboratory (CPL) in Navi Mumbai will focus on detection of wide spectrum of chromosome abnormalities and syndromes.
The laboratory is currently focused on Cytogenetic and Molecular Cytogenetic (FISH) testing. The sample type, currently being tested are peripheral blood and products of conception. TTL Cytogenetic laboratory plans to expand the Karyotyping and FISH tests for prenatal samples (Amniotic Fluid, Choorionic Villi and Cord Blood) as well as for cancer patients (Bone Marrow, Solid tumors). The Karyotyping and FISH are useful in diagnosing various chromosome syndromes in children and adults.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr.Velumani, CMD, Thyrocare, said, "The launch of the new Cytogenetics division is to address the growing need of access to technologies that can help in diagnosing prenatal and neonatal conditions. Cytogenetic testing will help us to diagnose inherited disorders, management of which can only is possible, if it is diagnosed during the initial stages of birth".
The new line of tests that Cytogentics division offers, will further expand Thyrocare's extensive in-house testing capabilities which currently conducts around 208 different tests across 2500 parameters. These tests are also available for children as well as adults for the diagnosis of underlying disorders.
Dr. Caesar Sengupta, VP Operations, Thyrocare, stated that, "We have experienced a steady rise in screening solutions for new born and fetal health. Doctors and expectant parents are trying to ensure that the disorders are detected at the earliest to ensure early intervention. With our experience in diagnostic assays, and possession of innovative technologies we are trying to support India's preventive healthcare requirements".
Thyrocare's Cytogenetics division is fully equipped with automated Cytogenetics and FISH software and uses advanced microscope system. The entire Karyotyping test, which is a key test in Cytogenetics can be completed in minimum span of time with the help of Thyrocare's laboratory automation and well integrated IT capabilities.
