Thyrocare Technologies Limited embarks on PAN India expansion launches 6 Regional Processing Laboratories within 18 months
July 1, 2016, Mumbai:
In a bid to make its services more reachable across India, Thyrocare, a leader in preventive healthcare diagnosis has launched a total of 6 Regional Processing Laboratories ( RPL) across India in past 18 months, with the latest one launched in Bengaluru, on 1st July 2016. Thyrocare already has processing facilities located in cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Bhopal, Hyderabad and Coimbatore.
The new facility enhances the processing capacity of the laboratory at regional level. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Velumani, CMD of Thyrocare highlighted that the Bengaluru facility, a part of its expansion plan would help to reduce the pre-analytical Turn Around Time (TAT) for specimen collected in this region thereby boosting the growth of business from this region. The samples are processed regionally for the more commonly asked tests, and for other esoteric tests they are sent to the Central Processing Laboratory in Navi Mumbai.
The laboratory results are made available online for clients as soon as the processing is complete which normally takes 3-4 hours from the time of the receipt of samples. The 5500 sq ft Bengaluru RPL is equipped with fully automated CLIA, HPLC, Biochemistry and Hematology analyzers and has a capacity to process more than 6000 specimen for about 25000 tests per day.
Addressing a question on quality standards, Dr. Caesar Sengupta, VP Operations stated that the same technologies, analyzer brands, reagents and quality control standards implemented in its central laboratory, has been extended to this facility to ensure uniform quality across the country. The tests though done regionally the results are controlled, managed, reviewed as well as released using cloud based software. All major cities in Karnataka like Mysore, Hubli, Mangaluru, Belgaum, Gulburga, Bellary, Bijapur, Shimoga and Tumkur, are set to benefit with the launch of the Bengaluru RPL.
Thyrocare processes currently about 50,000 samples every night, the highest among any laboratory in the country. Thyrocare plans to increase the number of Regional Processing Laboratories to 25 in a span of 36-48 months.
